Colorado Liquor Licenses by Local Wine Co

In Colorado companies and people are limited to holding only one liquor license, therefore there are no chain retailers. For example, out of all the Wholefoods that operate in Colorado only one has the right to sell beer and wine. This sort of law creates a huge amount of independent business and a few mega liquor/wine/beer stores that rival the size of nearly anything in the US. The law is being challenged to allow grocery stores the right to sell alcohol in all of their locations. Is this a good thing? I don’t know. NYC has a similar restrictive law and the wine/spirits business is thriving. IL allows for chains to hold multiple licenses and the wine/spirits industry is thriving there too.

The next major issue will be direct shipping and how will that affect everyone in the traditional supplier three tier distribution? I do know that we can only count on change, so keep your eyes on the horizon and try to do the best job you possibly can.
